LPA Field Trip (LA)
-- Saturday, April 17, 2010
The LA field trip was long but very enjoyable.
After all the adds and drops we ended up with five members and a guest.
The field trip was actually more like five short trips: the MetroLink down, Union Station, Art Deco Tour, Olvera Street, and the MetroLink back.
The MetroLink down offered opportunities to photograph people sleeping, talking, reading, and just staring out the window.
Union Station offered art, architecture, a garden, and people going about their business.
For the Art Deco tour we had our own LA Conservancy docent (guide) who accepted the quirks of photographers in stride, took us around and through several amazing buildings, and told us enough so that we could appreciate some of the finer details, such as how to spot stylized wheat.
Besides the Art Deco there were many other architectural styles from Gothic to modern. It would take weeks to fully photograph all we saw.
