The AV Fair Photography for 2013 has 28 classes covered over ten divisions. The total is 171 division/class entries, wow! The Photography Fair Chairpersons have created a presentation to aid the exhibitor (you) to a better understanding of the class definitions, and to share with you tips, examples, and tools to assist you in best determining what class your photo should be entered in.

Since our past AVF Chairperson Dave Anderson moved to the other side of the country, Douglas Wade, last year’s Co-Chair accepted the position of AVF Chairperson for 2012, and your past President Sue Craft became Co-Chair.

Changes for 2012 – Increased Best of Divisions Award (Adult) from $25 to $50, increased Best of Show Award (Adult) from $50 to $100, and added a Sweepstakes Award of $100 for entrant with most number of points based upon points for ribbon winners.  We also changed the judging from the American System to Danish System for Youth (17 & under) where multiple awards are offered based upon a score.   The Junior Best of Divisions and Best of Show Award were increased as well.

Congratulations to all our members and friends who contributed to the success of this year’s Photography Exhibit.  We’ve received many favorable comments from the public and from the fair staff on how good everything looks.

There were 55 different members and 3 friends who took part in everything, including planning, our digital committee, decorating, clerking, take-in, picture hanging, monitoring the exhibit and photo release and clean-up.  Quite a few of our most dedicated members put in many hours to accomplish everything necessary to make it a success.  There were many more members who wished to work with us, but their work or health just wouldn’t allow it.

This was our annual event to discuss the rules for the Photography Exhibit and to explain and demonstrate the process of mounting prints to the public.
