May 2007 Meeting - "Ultra Wide-Angle Photography"

This evening’s program “Ultra Wide Angle Photography” was presented by Professional Photographer, Jim Cooluris. Jim traveled from Oxnard to share his digital show, and showed examples of what can be done with an ultra wide lens (10mm). Many questions surfaced throughout the program, and afterwards too. Jim talked about the techniques used to capture those unique shots. Some of his ultra wide angle photos, and article were featured in the April 2006 edition of Outdoor Photography magazine. Check out Jim’s website at  www.jimcoolurisphotography.com to see more of his work.

Dennis Goodno, our President, encouraged more people to get involved with the club. We are in need of a Chairperson for Field Trips, Workshops, and Refreshments. Fred Griggs is retiring from Field Trip Chairperson, and will be taking over as Competition Chair. John Shedrick, our Workshop Chairperson for the past couple of years, (and current AV Fair Photography Chairperson), would like to retire from the Workshop position. We now have over 120 members in our club, and welcome assistance and involvement from all members. Numerous smaller jobs are available as well. What can you do to help???

Please visit the August calendar section on the website, to sign up for table monitoring shifts at the AV Fair. Shifts are only 3-4 hours long, EASY, and fun! LPA volunteers who sign up early receive a FREE admission ticket to the AV Fair… an $8 value.

Don’t miss the May 22 Portrait Workshop led by Bob Lion and Lyle Trusty. This workshop was offered a couple of years ago, and was a great success! Bring your cameras and tripods for an evening of hands on fun.

Also, the S4C Year End Awards Banquet is June 2, and PSA Roundup June 9.  Check the web calendar to see who's going, and you can probably find someone to carpool with.

Over 50 members and 2 guests were present tonight. Bob Lion was the lucky winner of the 50/50 drawing and won $34.  Thank you to Lee Simmons for the yummy snacks!
