March 2008 Competition: "Animals"

This evening's program was attended by 52 people, many of which entered the photo competition, where the theme was "Animals".

We had a total of 107 entries, with a record number of 31 entries in the Digital B (Novice/Amateur) group. Over half the total entries this month, were digital entries (56 total). It seems that more and more people are saving a lot of ink, and going with digital entries. Our judge for the evening was Lee Bergthold, a photography professor from Antelope Valley College.

Our visitors included Alex Martinez (who joined this evening and won an HM), Douglas Wade (who found out about us through the LPA website and Northrop), and Linda Magary (former LPA member who moved out of state).

Upcoming events/opportunities include member participation at LPA Booth at the Poppy Festival April 19-20, and the opportunity for LPA members to share an LPA booth at the Resource Conservation District Nursery, on Ave I, on the way to the Poppy Reserve, the same weekend.  Dean Webb (948-4123) is chairperson for the Poppy Festival Booth, and Nereida Henderson (724-1169) is the contact for the Conservation Nursery.

Thank you to Sharon Martinez and all her helpers for providing the yummy refreshments for the evening.  If you like to eat, please consider taking a turn and bringing snacks.
