Poppy Festival 2009

On April 25 and 26, the LPA hosted a member's booth at the Annual California Poppy Festival in Lancaster.

This was our 5th year participating.  It’s nice to be in the Fine Arts area, with all the other artists.

The weather was sunny, but winds on Saturday were gusting over 35mph.  Still over 20,000 people attended the festival on Saturday and over 22,000 people on Sunday.

We had 13 members exhibiting and 7 of them made sales from smaller items, including small matted prints, books, postcards, and lots of greeting cards.

10% of all sales were donated to the LPA.  Many other LPA members and friends/spouses helped set up, take down, and work shifts.

LPA members who volunteered to sit during three shifts each day, all received free entrance passes to the festival.

All had fun discussing photography related subjects ranging from beginning to professional, handing out LPA fliers, and meeting potential new LPA members.

We expect to see a number of new faces at our next LPA meeting.

Photographers rarely go anywhere without their camera in hand, and Lyle Trusty and David Wilkins were ready when the Pirates came to the LPA booth!
