Meeting & Competition, March 16, 2010
We had 57 members and visitors attend our Panorama ‘Open” Competition and General meeting.
We started our evening off with Helen Henry introducing our judge for the evening, Stuart Lynn, the presiding President from Coachella Valley Desert Camera Club. Since our theme was "Open" this month our members entered a variety of different pictures for our viewing. Mr. Lynn critiqued each and every picture entered in the competition. Even if you didn’t enter this evening, you still learned from the critiques. We had a total of 24 prints, 27 digitals, and 12 slides for the competition and thank Mr. Lynn and all the volunteers who assisted, and made the evening happen.
Great participation and wonderful pictures enter by all!
Dave Anderson thanked Bonnie Matthews for the refreshments this month. Please volunteer to bring snacks for the monthly meeting. You are reimbursed up to $30. Sign up on the LPA Webpage.
Congratulations to Nereida Henderson for winning $35 at the 50/50 drawing.
Bonnie Matthews announced to those who attended the Modeling Portrait Workshop on Feb 20th and 21st at Hank Morris’ studio, she has the model release forms. Please contact her and she will supply you with the correct signed releases so you can show your pictures at the fair, your website etc.
Glenn Olson will lead the field trip on April 10 for the Art Deco Walking Tour to Downtown L.A. More info on the web.
Sue Craft reminded us of the workshop for March 23rd Small World by Noella Ballenger. Then on March 24th and March 27th the flower workshop. 9:30-3pm. Please go to the web for more information.
Poppy festival- April 24-25 Need volunteer for Sat/Sun shifts. All volunteers Sat/Sun to get free passes.
David Wilkins gave his newsletter report. He is looking for “Wildflower” photos for the newsletter.
Helen Henry reminded us the next competition theme will be “Nature” on May 18th and our judge will be Diane Racey.
Lyle Trusty reminded us of upcoming deadlines for S4C and PSA. Lakes & Valleys Master Salon Gallery-July 2010. J. Stolte will be the Judge.

Everyone is invited everyone to attend the Friday night discussion group which meets every Friday night, 6:30pm at Denny’s, 20th West and K, Lancaster. Everyone is welcomed regardless of knowledge and all subjects covered.
Dave Anderson gave his AV Fair report: -Rules have been revised and submitted to the Fair; -Met with Becky from Fair Entry Office and Susan, Leader of Home Arts section and reviewed the submitted Rules. They had suggested changes to the rules, which have been incorporated and the rules were re-submitted. -Held initial meeting of Fair Planning committee and reviewed rules and Timeline of events for this year.
Dave Anderson announced the nominating committee is Lyle Trustee and Dean Webb. If you would like to run for an office let them know. You can also nominate yourself. Before you nominate someone else, please make sure they want the position.
The Photoshop class has been delayed for now but Bob Lion’s will resubmit our paperwork. Thank you Bob for all you hard work.
Nan stated she has donated the textbook to the library for the 1st year course for PSA members.
