LPA/LVAG Fine Arts Gallery Show

A juried fine art photography show sponsored jointly by members of the Lancaster Photography Association (LPA) and the Lakes and Valleys Art Guild (LVAG) will be on exhibit at the LVAG gallery from July 10 through July 31, 2010.

The public is invited to join the artists at the gallery on Saturday, July 10th between 12 and 5PM for a traditional art reception to view the fine art works and celebrate the occasion.  Beverages and hors d'oevres will be provided.

Reminder... Pick up your photos between 1pm and 4pm on August 1 at the Gallery.

A photography contest will be held in conjunction with the show. The Photography Exhibit will be judged, along with a critique of the entries, during the reception. Judging will be provided by Joanne Stolte, Vice President for Membership of PSA, the Photographic Society of America. Best of Show, Second, Third, and Honorable Mention Awards will be presented to the winners following the contest. These Critiques have become a very popular feature of our shows because they provide a unique learning experience for the Photographers, Artists, and members of the community interested in learning more about photography and Art. This has been a very popular feature in all of our Contests and Gallery Shows. Works entered in the show may be purchased by the general public.

The Lakes and Valleys Art Guild produces a new exhibit every month featuring local and regional Artists, Sculptors, and Photographers, along with hosting popular Community Social Events on special occasions. The LVAG also features an active Members Gallery with an ever changing variety of fine art paintings, sculptures, original jewelry, miniatures, special occasion cards and books, as well as other beautiful gift items. The Gallery always welcomes new members to its activities that promote the arts in the mountain communities, the Antelope Valley, and Santa Clarita Valley.

Information and guidelines for the Fine Arts Gallery Show

Take-In will be from 2:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, 6 July 2010, at the Lakes and Valleys Art Guild Gallery, 43751 Lake Hughes Road, Lake Hughes, CA (One block South of Elizabeth Lake Road). Each member may submit up to three pictures. If there is space available the curator may hang additional pictures from any individual in the interest of improving the show.

The minimum size, including the frame and mat, is 11 X 14 inches. Maximum size will be determined by the space available, and the quality of the work. Pictures on photographic paper should be framed and mounted behind glass or Plexiglas, Pictures printed on artists canvas may be mounted without glass.

Laminated pictures mounted on wood or composition board, with or without printed borders, may be entered, with the same minimum size limitations as above. Glass is not required on Laminations. Coordinate with the Chairperson before submitting extra large pictures such as panoramas, or mixed media such as "painting enhanced" photographs. Every attempt will be made to hang specialty pieces that represent advanced techniques and processes. Each exhibitor is invited to have biographical information about themselves posted adjacent to their pictures. A 5 X 7 Inch card is a good size and adding a picture is optional. Assistance is available if desired.

A display information card for each photograph with the picture title, name of the photographer, and the selling price, will be provided by the gallery. If the picture is not for sale, "NFS" will be listed on the display information card. The information for the data cards must be provided, and included on a card on the back of the picture, at take-in. The information will also be entered on the "Artist's Consignment Sheet" at take-in. If the photographer is willing to negotiate the price of the picture during the show, this information shall be noted on the consignment sheet so that contact information may be given to the customer. The only person authorized to change a price is the photographer. He/she can do this verbally with the Gallery Sitter and the Customer, or by personally crossing out the original price, and entering a new one on the Consignment Sheet.

The cost to enter pictures for LPA and LVAG members is $7.50 for one or $5.00 each for 2 or 3. A gallery donation of twenty percent of the asking price will be added onto the artists asking price. For example: if the artist's asking price is $100 the gallery selling price will be $120. "NFS" will be posted without prejudice on any picture that is not for sale. (We all have our "Darlings".)
