Framing Workshop - July 2010

On July 27th Glenn Olson conducted a workshop on framing which he titled "Framing 101." The presentation was intended to inform the audience of the issues they would run into when then started framing their photos and the many options they had available to them.

He covered the material in five sections. First, he explained why it was important to consider framing before you take your photo. Second, he described the range of complexity of frames from simple to extravagant. Third, he described the many styles and materials available to the framers. Fourth, he listed some of the many sources of frames and framing materials. And fifth, he went over some special considerations for framers such as the advantages and disadvantages of paying for custom framing versus doing it yourself.

To illustrate his points Glenn had on display about 30 different types of frames from home-made to store-bought and from very simple to elaborate. Afterward he answered questions and gave participants the opportunity to add their own experiences and knowledge.
