AV Fair Fun
Volunteers Still Needed!!! Sign up Here!
It’s that time of year again… fair time!
Did you know that our club has been involved with the AVF photography exhibit for over forty years? There is a bit of work involved, but the fun we have working together on such a big project and pride we take in helping our community makes it all worthwhile. Thank you to Dave Anderson, our AVF Photography Exhibit Chairperson and to all the volunteers who help make it all happen.
Our responsibilities include:
- All the coordination prior to the Fair
- Revising the rules as needed
- Making arrangements for the Judges
- Decorating the pegboards
- Doing the Take-In of all the prints, and Computer Support for Digital Entries
- Arranging and hanging all the prints
- Providing Clerks on Judging Day
- Monitoring the exhibit throughout the Fair
- Promoting the LPA by talking to the public, answering questions and handing out Club Fliers
- Returning Prints and Ribbons and Checks to Winners
We’re still looking for clerks, and assistance on take-in day, and monitoring the exhibit. Clerks and Print Hangers need to be on their feet, but with all other positions, sitting jobs are available. Volunteers can work for any part of the day they are available.
Clerks get to follow behind the judges, and while doing the tally work, get to overhear the judge’s comments. Very informative! Hanging the prints is fun, because you get a preview of all the photo entries and get to test your skills in gallery hanging. Monitoring the exhibit is easy… plus you get a free entry ticket to the fair! All AVF volunteers get a free ticket (up to an $8 value). New members are encouraged to participate. It’s a great way to meet and get to know other photo club members, and its fun!
Please sign up on the LPA website to volunteer, or call Dave Anderson 265-7188, or Sue Craft 273-7257.
