26th Annual AVUHSD All Media Art Show
LPA Student Photography Award - $100
Students from Antelope Valley Union High School District are showcasing their artistic talents in a wide range of media in this annual exhibition co-organized by the Lancaster Museum/Art Gallery and AVUHSD teachers. Past exhibitions have included photography, sculpture, painting, drawing, digital media and ceramic arts.
For many years, the LPA has offered a Lancaster Photography Association $100 Student Award. Judges from the LPA consisted of Lyle Trusty, Bonnie Matthews, and Faith W. They selected the photograph“POW” created by Alyssa Freise as the winner of this year’s award. Bonnie presented the award at the opening reception at City Hall.
Judges comments were as follows: Alyssa's Picture shows a keen awareness of the qualities of a winning image. IMPACT is outstanding; COMPOSITION is supported by the arrangement of the wooden elements and the hands and face. TECHNICAL aspects of sharpness and depth of field support the high quality of the print. The STORY element evokes feelings for a young person in desperate circumstances. These factors together indicate the photographer has presented the image in a professional way.
The exhibition runs from April 9-May 8, 2011 and is located at Lancaster City Hall as the museum is preparing for a move to its new facility. Come show your support for these young artists.
