This field trip is a “walk and shoot” around many of the great Los Angeles locations. We will be leaving Lancaster at 6:30 am on the Metrolink, and Palmdale at 6:39 am.  It is only $10 on weekends. (http://www.metrolinktrains.com/howtoride/page/title/weekends)

This field trip is a great opportunity for the upcoming LPA and/or 2013 AV Fair competitions:

Please sign up below if you'd like to attend.

We will be arriving via the train at Union Station around 9:00 am.  For those that want meet up with us at Union Station, the address is 800 North Alameda Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012, and parking is $10. We will meet around 9:30 in the main seating area for a group photograph. My phone is 661-972-2201.

I recommend the following, but you are free to explore on your own and enjoy the architecture and trains.  The Union Station is a very beautiful place. Think of photographing the ceilings, the tiles, the glass dome, and all the ornate details. No tripods. Download the Metro Photography Policy for details.

We will be walking to Olvera Street, the birthplace of the City of Los Angeles, otherwise known as EI Pueblo Historic Monument. This colorful village features 27 historic buildings and a traditional Mexican-style plaza, located at 845 N Alameda St Los Angeles.

We’ll end the trip at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in the early evening.  It is one of Los Angeles' newest landmarks and is the official home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. Disney Hall is unique, with its striking stainless steel exterior and interior featuring warm woods. Consider trying night photography with long exposures. The concert hall is located at 11 S. Grand Los Angeles. They do not allow tripods on the grounds.

There are numerous great restaurants in the area.  Take time to enjoy a late breakfast or long lunch and make a whole day of it.

The train back to the AV is at 2:25 pm, 4:05 pm, 5:40pm, and the last one is at 8:55 pm. Double check with the Metro in case the times change.
