Field Trip to Gubler Orchid Farm, Sep 13 2014

Come join LPA for a field trip to Gubler Orchid Farm in Landers, Saturday September 13th. Their showroom is full of blooming Orchids of many varieties. You will be shown how the Orchids are started from seed to grow seedlings, to the full-grown blooming Orchids. You will be taken on a tour of the Green house, where you will see thousands of  Blooming Orchids to photograph.

Gubler Orchid Farm opens at 10:00 A.M.  Meet at the Ave. S, Park and Ride, west side parking lot in Palmdale by 7:45 A.M. and carpool to the Farm. From Palmdale take Pearblossom Hwy to Hwy 18 towards Victorville.  Once in Victorville stay in the right lane, go over the bridge; turn right onto Hwy 15 north towards Barstow. Not the ramp before the bridge, that goes south. Take exit #153A, D St./ Hwy 18 towards Apple Valley/Lucerne Valley/Big Bear. In Lucerne Valley continue straight onto Hwy 247, turn Left on Lynn Rd., the payment curves onto Belfield. You will see the green houses on the right a little ways down the road. Go past the buildings and park in the dirt lot. The showroom is behind the bushes.  It will take 2 hours 15 minutes from Palmdale and is about 110 miles.

Just down the road from the Orchid farm is the Integratron. A fascinating dome building that has amazing acoustics. It is open to the public that weekend. No reservations are required. There is a fee for the Sound bath of $20. It is a one-hour relaxing experience. There are three time 11:45, 1:00 and 2:15, that is offered, but you do not have to partake. Bring water and a snack if you like. There is no place to eat in Landers that Anita knows or recommends. Those interested might enjoy a late lunch at  Pancho’s Mexican Restaurant in Victorville, on the way home. It has great food. Address: 16427 Victor St., Victorville. From Hwy 18, turn left on 7th to Victor St., turn left and it is down one block on right.
