[image1_left]LPA Field Trip to the Huntington Library, Art Collection, and Botanical Gardens.

The LPA invites its members and guests to join us at the Huntington on March 15 following the club's Sunday Breakfast.  Spring is in the air, trees are blossoming, and flowers are blooming.  The Huntington has 12 gardens and 15,000 plant varieties. The gardens include the Australian, Camellia, Chinese, Desert, Herb, Jungle, Rose, and more. Their art collection includes 650 paintings, including Blue Boy, and 440 works of sculpture. Exhibitions include photography, drawings, and paintings. The Huntington is located near Pasadena, about 1 hr. 35 min. from Lancaster. They are open weekends from 10:30 to 4:30 and charge $23 for admission ($18 for age 65+). For more information visit http://www.huntington.org/.

Please sign up here if you'd like to attend. You need to be a current LPA member and log into the site to sign up.

[image2_right]Following the LPA Breakfast (optional) we will meet at the Huntington's front entrance at 10:45 for a group photo. After that everyone will be free to roam in groups or by themselves. The grounds are extensive so it's recommended that you prioritize your "can't miss" opportunities. They have four venues for snacks and lunches. Tripods are allowed on the grounds but no tripods or flashes are allowed inside the buildings. Within a week following the field trip we ask participants to send a couple of your favorite photos to our coordinator for possible inclusion in the LPA web site and monthly newsletter. Our coordinator for this field trip is Christine Wilkins who can be contacted at fieldtrips@lpaphotography.org.

The Huntington's web site, Google, and GPS devices offer directions and paper maps are still useful. Using the Huntington's directions, take Hwy 14 South, I5 South, 210 East past Pasadena (the 210-134 interchange can be tricky), exit at Sierra Madre south, right on California Blvd, left on Allen Ave, and two blocks to the Huntington. Also, for those who like to shop, there are several camera stores nearby.

You need to be a current LPA member and log into this site to sign up.
