General Meeting, February 15, 2005

Our February meeting was well attended with over 40 people present, and 4 new visitors.  It’s exciting to see our club grow, as we just gained two new members, and are now up to 90 members.

Many exciting events are coming up soon.  Next up is our big trip to Death Valley on March 9-11.  Dean Webb and Lou Hoffman will be leading us to some of the unique places in the northern part of Death Valley.  Ubehebe Crater, Scotty’s Castle, the Dunes, and an old ghost town await us!

In addition to our monthly field trips, and digital workshop series which begins again on February 22, we have the annual Poppy Festival to look forward to on April 16-17.  Once again, the LPA will have a booth, double in size from last year, to display club member photographs.  Aside from the fair, this is our greatest opportunity to mingle with the community, promote our club, and display our works of art.

It’s that time of year again to start thinking about who you’d like to see run for the new board.  If you are interested in being on the nominating committee, please contact John S. or Dean W.    

Our program this month was presented by Stokely Wilson, from King Photo.  He spoke to us about “Composition”.  Stokely shared a wonderful collection of slides with us, and talked about his photographic techniques.

The 50/50 drawing was won by Duane Whitaker.  He won $29!!!
