Poppy Festival, April 16-17, 2005

Events

What a gorgeous weekend we had for the Poppy Festival, probably one of the best! The sunshine, warmth, and Poppies, all brought tens of thousands of people to the festival.

Our LPA booth was quite spacious, as it was double the size of last year. We were able to accommodate 42 eye catching photographs, which brought lots of people to our booth.

Rene Caro’s 10 foot long beautiful panoramic desert photo was a real attention getter.

Arley Clark put together a great DVD presentation that ran on our club TV.

It looks like we picked up a few more members, so watch for new faces at our next meeting.

Ann Hurd, Tylene Trout, and Kay Hendrickson were busy all weekend making sales from their booths and selling everything from magnets, to greeting cards, and photographs.  Kay was selling her book The California Poppy.

Darlene Sprunger can be seen holding the new Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve brochure.  Three of our LPA club members have their photos featured in the pamphlet… Darlene Sprunger, Nereida Henderson, and Stokley Wilson.

Our booth neighbor was photographer Scott Villabos, who was the winner of the People’s Choice Award at LMAG’s Juried All Media Art Exhibition.  Scott kindly donated a stack of his Wildflower Screen Savers which will be prizes at our next LPA meeting.

Thank you to all who displayed your work, and especially to all of those who volunteered of their time to make for a very successful, and FUN event!
