One of our favorite LPA events is our annual Christmas Banquet. This year’s was no exception and over 50 people came to enjoy the food and festivities.
The senior center was filled with holiday cheer. Holiday music filled the room, the aroma of ham and turkey wafted in the air, and members mingled about the Salon Show.
Turkey, ham, potatoes, vegetables, dressing, rolls, appetizers, salads and deserts of every sort began to fill the banquet tables.
The ol’ piano came alive as Alyssa Craft played Christmas Carols. Tables were decorated by individual members, and centerpieces later raffled off.
Our members best work was displayed at the Salon Show, chaired by Lyle Trusty. The attendees voted on the photograph they liked the most. The Members Choice winner was Rene Caro with a beautiful panorama of Telluride, Colorado.
Our program for the evening was presented by Vince Capasso on his recent trip down the Ohio River on the Delta Queen. His narrated digital video presentation included interesting history of that famous riverboat and the towns along the Ohio. Vince shared a recording of the steam calliope, which consists of an antique keyboard, and steam powered whistles. Many questions followed his program, and no… you don’t get Seasick on a Riverboat.
Our 50/50 drawing was also a big event with $70 going to winner Bill Albrect.
In addition to the money, there were gift certificates for photography workshops in Las Vegas and for the T-Shirt Express for shirts with our LPA logo. There was also an assortment of photography books and other items.
Sue Craft was this year’s chairperson, and would like to thank everyone who volunteered, and pulled together to make this a fun event for all.
