Thirteen members showed up for this trip on a cool, but sunny Saturday morning.
Most of the group met at Bakers Square for breakfast before heading out for the ranch, which was only about a thirty minute drive down the freeway.
Once there, we wandered up the hill to the home of that once famous movie actor. We had time to check out the grounds and the beautiful view from the hilltop before the first guided tour of the home began.
The home was uniquely designed and still contained all the original furnishings and possessions of William S. Hart.
Photography inside was a challenge, since no tripods or flash were allowed, and the lighting was quite dim.
After our tour, we proceeded back down the hill towards the old train station which was full of relics of the past. The surrounding area also contained many old and interesting artifacts and structures, such as an old schoolhouse which was built to be transported between mining towns on the back of a truck and a tiny chapel.
All in all, this was an enjoyable and interesting trip. Thanks to Dave Anderson for bringing this together and leading the trip.
