Meeting & Competition, March 21, 2006
We had a large turnout this month with over 50 people in attendance for Competition Night! It was a very special evening, and we were pleased to have Joanne Stolte, President of S4C come all the way from Glendora, first share dinner with us at the Hometown Buffet, and then to our meeting.
Before getting to the most exciting part of the evening, a bit of club business was attended to. Of interest to all is our upcoming participation at the Lancaster Poppy Festival, April 22-23, and chaired by Lyle Trusty. We’re very excited to once again participate, and display, and have now added marketing to expand our horizons.

Our Year End Competition, Awards Banquet, and Installation of Officers will be on June 20th at the Senior Center. Nominations are needed for board positions. Yes, you can nominate yourself! Feel free to inquire about opportunities, without actually saying “yes”. Contact any board member. Assistance is also needed in planning an enjoyable year end celebration.
We’re starting something new this month. Several of our more experienced members have volunteered their time, as needed, each month, either during break or after the meeting, to personally help anyone with specific photographic/camera related questions.
Before the competition, Joanne Stolte shared information about S4C (Southern California Council of Camera Clubs) and the PSA (Photographic Society of America).
Joanne had an impressive selection of her photos, which provided a visual demonstration of some of S4C’s competition categories, and the photos displayed beautifully on our brand new digital projector.
There is little doubt that our new equipment is capable of the quality necessary to expand our competitions to include a digital category. Joanne was quite inspirational, and convincing, as to why our club should become a member of S4C.
Our competition theme this month was Wood, with quite a few entries in both slides and prints. Joanne did a short critique on each and every entry, offering many helpful suggestions and comments. It was quite educational, and greatly appreciated and enjoyed by all.

Thank you to our judge Joanne Stolte, Kay Hendrickson our competition chair, to all the “helpers”, and to all our contestants for their participation.

Congratulations to all the Winners!!!
