LVAG /LPA Fine Art Photography Competition & Show
I had the pleasure of participating at the LVAG/LPA Art Show in Lake Hughes. Numerous other LPA photographers entered works of art as well, and the presentation at quaint/artistic location was quite beautiful. Numerous pieces were presented, in a very artsy feeling gallery. Our photo exhibit shared the gallery with other extremely talented artists from the local area.
The opening reception was held on Sunday July 2, however the exhibit runs through the end of the month. Fancy finger foods, wine, and great conversation filled the building while exhibitors and guests mingled around the gallery. Silence filled the air, and all eyes and ears were focused on Joanne Stolte, our judge from PSA. Joanne critiqued each and every photo entry and provided so much valuable information.
I learned about the sale ability of photos, how important the hands and eyes are in portrait photos, how to test whether your picture is “straight”, how prints on canvas must be “tack sharp” and how important it is that your matte/frame be fitting to your photograph. Joanne also talked about composition, and made mention of what could be done to improve our photographs, while at the same time, mentioning all the things we did right!
While wandering around the room doing critiques, somehow, without us realizing what was happening, she ended at the first place winning photography… Alice, by Tylene Trout.
Congratulations to all the Winners!!!
