This evening’s program was attended by 55 people. Many new visitors, who found out about our club at the AV Fair, were present, and several joined our club.
Award winning portrait photographer Bill Nord shared his secrets for taking his great shots. Bill’s motto is Keep it Simple! Bills travels have taken him to Africa 7 times, and say he has no time for tripods or fancy lights when on a photo trip. He shoots his portraits at 1/250 sec at f/16, and only uses one flash. He puts his subjects in the shade, to eliminate squinty eyes, perspiration, and shiny faces. In the shade, his background goes black, and the printed subjects, which are needle sharp, have great impact.
Exciting news… the board approved (4/4) to enrolling our entire club up for S4C. By becoming an LPA member, you will automatically be eligible to participate in S4C competitions. Those who already signed up as individuals (by paying the $3 fee), can request a refund from our treasurer, unless you prefer to donate the $3 and make life for our treasurer (Pat Ware) a little easier. The new S4C competition year begins in October.
Next up… Action Photography Workshop on September 26, led by Sue Craft and Lyle Trusty. Following that, our October Field trip will be on Oct 7, where you will have a chance to practice your action photography with barrel racing horses.
California Celebrate the Arts Day happens on October 6, at the Lancaster Museum Art Gallery from 11am – 5 pm. The LPA will be represented there, among many other local area art groups.
All LPA Members are invited to participate in a Gallery Show at Cedar Center for the month of October. Fred Griggs will be the Featured Artist. Details available on the website calendar, October 9 photo take-in.
Congratulations to Bob Lion on winning $30 at the 50/50 drawing.
