General Meeting, April 2008

Meetings

Members (David Wilkins, Anita Kratofil and Helen Henry) present images from their travels.

This evening’s program was attended by 47 people, including 5 guests, two of which joined tonight, and one of them (Angela Meyers) won the 50/50 drawing of $31.

We were privileged this month to have as our program three of our members (David Wilkins, Anita Kratofil and Helen Henry) present images from their travels.

Helen and her husband Jerry took a trip to China recently. Many beautiful photos were shared, with Chinese music accompanying.

Anita visited Japan for over three weeks, and put together a show on Power Point (with Japanese music in the background) and photos that gave one a sense of Japanese culture.

David went on a Mentor Series Program, offered through American Photographer, and Popular Photography Magazine, and sponsored by Nikon. The program consisted of classroom work, field shots, technical and critique sessions. He shared photos of the various places and subjects they got to photograph in Texas, around the Alamo.

Lyle Trusty, Irving Bjorge and Dean Webb were on this years nominating committee. The candidates were: Dave Anderson – President, Sue Craft – Vice President, Sharon Martinez – Secretary, and Nan Carder – Treasurer. There were no new nominations from the floor, so the candidates were elected as presented. Your new board members will begin their duties beginning July 1.

Don’t forget to visit the LPA at the Poppy Festival on April 19-20. The LPA booth will be in the Fine Arts Section (the NW corner). Be sure and visit Tylene Trout and Ann Hurd in their booth at G104 & G106.

Three new events to look forward too…

David Wilkins is leading a field trip on May 3 to Mentryville, and Rancho Camulous (during Vaquero Days).

Tylene Trout and Sue Craft are offering a Flower critique session on May 4, as a follow up to the workshop and field trip.

Glen Olson has started a weekly LPA Member’s Discussion Group, to be held on Friday nights from 7-8pm at Bianco’s Café, in Lancaster.

The next photo competition is in May, and the theme is Open.

Thank you to Beth Goodno for providing the yummy refreshments for the evening. If you enjoy snacking, please consider taking a turn. Up to $30 worth of snacks will be reimbursed to you by the LPA. Please contact Beth (begoodno@mindspring.com) to choose a month.
