MentryVille & Rancho Camulos, May, 2008

Field Trips

Fields of yellow mustard surrounded the now quiet town of Mentryville as LPA members gathered at the entrance for the tour of the town.

Our guide was Duane Harte of Friends of Mentryville who told us about the history of Mentryville and the wildcat driller Alexander Mentry.

The yellow hills provided the perfect backdrop for shots of the buildings and town. The flowers were blooming and the butterflies were out. The setting provided perfect opportunities for great photos.

Those who made it on to the Rancho Camulos festival in the afternoon were greeted with a more intimate experience than might be expected from a festival. It seemed the docents outnumbered the guest and the docents were more than willing to share their knowledge.

The weather was warm but not unpleasant and it made for a great day for a field trip.
