Meetings

We had 47 members and visitors attend our “Nature” Competition and General meeting.

Dave Anderson announced tonight is Election Night.  We will announce the results towards the end of the meeting so the ballots can be counted.

 

We started our evening off with Helen Henry introducing our judge for the evening, Diane Racy, and briefly going over the rules for the Nature category.  Ms. Racy critiqued a total of 18 prints, 67 digitals, and 10 slides for the competition. We would like to thank Ms. Racy and all the volunteers who assisted and made the evening a success.

Great participation and wonderful pictures entered by all!

Dave Anderson thanked Cheryl Ross for the refreshments this month. Please volunteer to bring snacks for the monthly meeting. You are reimbursed up to $30. Sign up on the LPA Webpage.

Tylene Trout welcomed the visitors and new members for the evening.

Congratulations to Cheryl Ross for winning $26 at the 50/50 drawing.

Doug Wade gave his report for the upcoming Workshops-May 25th “High Dynamic Range” with Ted Dayton, be sure to bring your Camera, Laptop, quick release, tripod and upload the HDR software. More info on our website. June 18 we have our “Photo Prep & FAQ for AV Fair” workshop and Jul 20 is our “Framing Photos” led by Glenn Olson.

Sue Craft said the program for the June 15 Annual Meeting will be the “Year End Awards and Installation of Officers” and Intro to Judging.

Sue also reminded us of the S4C Banquet on June 5, 2010.

David Wilkins gave his newsletter report. He is looking for photos for the newsletter. Also looking for new chairperson.

Helen Henry reminded us the next competition theme will be “Year End Competition” on June 15th . July 20, 2010 The theme will be PICTORIAL - Picturesque scenes such as landscapes, seascapes or scenic views.

Field Trips- TBD/Summer??? Photo shoot at a local corral with costumed riders-Dave Anderson will coordinate with Sal Vasquez & corral owner.

Lyle Trusty reminded us of upcoming deadlines for S4C and PSA. Lakes & Valleys Master Salon Gallery-July 2010. J. Stolte will be the Judge.

Everyone is invited to attend the Friday night discussion group which meets every Friday night, 6:30pm at Denny’s, 20th West and K, Lancaster. Everyone is welcomed regardless of knowledge and all subjects covered.

Dave Anderson gave his AV Fair report:-Sign up is on the website. Additional info re: Fair on website also. AV Fair management wants to have a Daily Photo Contest from fair attendees. Fair would like us to contribute to a fair basket ie picture.

Bonnie has been taking pictures since she was a little girl, but she didn't get into digital photography until about 2009, just before she joined the club.

Matthews-Franke finds the club to be very beneficial to her. The interaction with other members, being able to ask questions, the workshops and the knowledge that I take away from the club is phenomenal.

She believes the meetings, workshops and field trips are very beneficial, specially to the new members. Her favorites were the Fall Color Trips; Mono Lake Trips and the workshops were she had her camera and could play along.

She love landscapes. She just finished a vacation trip to Oregon where she photographed lighthouses, old barns and covered bridges. The older the structure the better Smile.
She also loves portraits, and shooting in her own studio.

Matthews-Franke has more than a few Canon's, a Canon 7D, a Canon 5D MKII and a few more with a variety of lenses and accessories. Her favorite lens is a 28-135mm ,70-200mm. & 100mm.

Matthews-Franke was our secretary of the club for a few years and helped made many changes to help us grow.
