Meeting and Holiday Party - Dec. 2011

Our 2011 LPA Holiday Party & Photo Contest was held on December 20th.  It was a festive evening, full of great food, good friends, and lots of holiday fun.  Over 62 people were in attendance this evening. We had a Opportunity Drawing were the proceeds went to the FOTC (Friends of The Center) and we raised $225 for them, awesome LPA members!!!!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our cooks for this Holiday dinner Tylene Trout, Chris Wilkins, Vicki Wise, Sue Liberto, and Terri Wade.  Also, thank you to ALL members who assisted this evening in making this party such a great success!!!!

We enjoyed watching a short video from LPA’s past, which gave us some comic relief and showed us some of our members in their younger days.  Then the Holiday Photo Contest was presented and the winners were announced. 1st place winners were awarded a Santa Hat and a Candy Cane. The contest was judged at an earlier time and scored the same as at S4C.  Since it was “just for fun,” all entries may be re-entered in another LPA contest.

We would like to thank Pat and Dale Ware for conducting our Opportunity Drawing and all donations by our members.  Congratulations to all the winners of the Opportunity Drawing.

LPA General Meeting Announcements were announced on the overhead screen during our meal and a handout was available for our members to make this evening more enjoyable. There was also a hand out for S4C and the So Calif Roundup “ A Day with Greg Rostami of Topaz Labs-January 21, 2012” on the back table.

Thank you to the numerous volunteers who helped make the evening so enjoyable.  The winners of the "Just for Fun" holiday photo competition can be viewed here.

Happy Holidays!

Bonnie has been taking pictures since she was a little girl, but she didnt get into digital photography until about four years ago, just before she joined the club.

Matthews finds the club to be very beneficial to her. “The interaction with other members, being able to ask questions, the workshops and the knowledge that I take away from the club is phenomenal.”

She is very active, attending most of the workshops and field trips. She has missed only a few workshops the last few years and has attended about 70% of the field trips. The fall color trip is one shes really looking forward to.

When asked what kind of photography she prefers, she said landscapes. She just finished a vacation trip to Oregon where she photographed lighthouses, old barns and covered bridges. “I really like old structures,” she said. She now loves portraits and has her own studio.

Matthews has a Canon 5D MKII and a variety of lenses and accessories. Her favorite lens is a 28-135mm ,70-200mm. & 100mm.

Matthews is our new secretary of the club and has made many changes – to help us grow. One improvement she hopes to make, however, is to archive the meeting notes she takes so new members can have access to them online.

“Im really proud that the club is growing like it is, and that the workshops are so great.
