Our February program will feature David Jesse McChesney, author and photographer, talking about his new book “The Mojave Desert: Miles of Wonder”. His new book is creating a lot of excitement among desert lovers everywhere. This will be a very special program so plan on attending.
David Jesse McChesney has photographed 53 of America’s National Parks over the past 38 years. He is the author of “The Mojave Desert: Miles of Wonder” and “Muir Roots: At One with the Wild.” He first visited Joshua Tree as an adult in the 70’s and later purchased property there in 1998. In 2010, David launched “American Birdlife,” “Miles of Wonder” and “Wildlife Wonders” note card lines which are marketed on the Gulf Coast, in the Great Lakes region, Rio Grande Valley and the Mojave Desert. His imagery is showcased at national wildlife refuges, world birding centers, travel centers, museums and a growing number of nature outlets. Musically, he won a national harmonica championship in 2008 and travels the country offering visual presentations, lectures and musical performances while leading nature and birding tours and educational programs. He is currently the Advanced Photography instructor for the Desert Institute at Joshua Tree National Park.
