S4C Report - November, 2012

S4C News

The second S4C Competition was held on November 10th  S4C in Riverside and the entries submitted were: A- Brent Bremer, Lee Garner, Wes Burcham, Cory Matthews and AA- Dwight Franke, Sue Craft,  Arliss Dawson, P. Dale Ware.  Dwight Franke received a HM with his image “Pass and Review.”

The third competition will open on Nov 17th and close on Dec 1st. The judging will take place on Dec 8th.  We are looking for good images to submit this competition year for both A and AA levels. December and January competitions are both going to be remote judging with no Delegate or Board meetings.

The next Delegate, Board and print competition will be February 9th. I was asked to encourage LPA members to attend the next competition as a field trip (like we have done in the past). I will try to put this together. Since there were only 4 exhibitors in the print competition this past weekend, I will try and push harder to get our members to participate in the February print competition. Since I have been offering to help our members and sent emails out to individuals with UEN’s, I have only received one request for help.

by Bonnie J Matthews-Franke

Bonnie has been taking pictures since she was a little girl, but she didn't get into digital photography until about 2009, just before she joined the club.

Matthews-Franke finds the club to be very beneficial to her. The interaction with other members, being able to ask questions, the workshops and the knowledge that I take away from the club is phenomenal.

She believes the meetings, workshops and field trips are very beneficial, specially to the new members. Her favorites were the Fall Color Trips; Mono Lake Trips and the workshops were she had her camera and could play along.

She love landscapes. She just finished a vacation trip to Oregon where she photographed lighthouses, old barns and covered bridges. The older the structure the better Smile.
She also loves portraits, and shooting in her own studio.

Matthews-Franke has more than a few Canon's, a Canon 7D, a Canon 5D MKII and a few more with a variety of lenses and accessories. Her favorite lens is a 28-135mm ,70-200mm. & 100mm.

Matthews-Franke was our secretary of the club for a few years and helped made many changes to help us grow.
