LPA Holiday Party, December 18, 2012
David Wilkins opened the festivities and welcomed over 60 people to our annual holiday party.
The room was transformed into a holiday dinner/party celebration with festive music filling the air, and volunteers scurrying around to transform the senior center into a party atmosphere, all in less than 45 minutes. Gotta love our volunteers!
The aroma of holiday food filled the air as volunteers brought in ham, party potatoes, and warm rolls, and the visual appeal kicked in with the sight of a green salad and a red jell salad. The aroma of hot apple cider and fresh coffee topped it all off. The desert table was filled with cakes, sweet/salty pretzel bits, and chocolate candy. Oh yum!!!
Donations from members for our annual Friends of the Center (FOTC) annual fundraiser filled the side tables, and attendees purchased tickets to place in bags, in front of those special items they wanted to win! 100% of all money collected from ticket sales (over $300) will all be donated to Friends of the Senior Center (FOTC). The FOTC takes care of needs at the Senior Center, that LA County cannot fulfill, and all money donated stays at the local center. Thank you for all your generous donations!
Caroling Carol (aka Carol Moss) came all adorned in her festive costume, complete with blinking lights, and rounded up a few song leaders, and got the rest of us to participate in singing some fun holiday songs. Some of our LPA photographers are multi-talented!
Congratulations to all the Holiday Photo Contest Winners! Check out the winners at http://www.lpaphotography.org/photocomp/results.php.
We had special guests Lindsey& Corey from Phelan, and Chuck & Diane from from Orange County who found out about LPA via our website, attended this evening, and all joined the LPA. Welcome!
Thank you all you who helped pull of this fun event! Thank you to the competition chairs, judges, all the cooks, music/sound/program coordinators, all who donated items, all who led the sing-along, all who helped set up and clean up, and to our photographers. With your donation of $5 per person, the LPA was able to provide a yummy dinner, table decorations, and Santa Hats and candy canes to the holiday photo contest winners. As your holiday party coordinator, I want to give a great big THANK YOU to all of you!
