Piute Ponds Workshop, August 18th, 2015

Piute Ponds is situated in the southwestern portion of Edwards Air Force Base in the western region of the Mojave Desert, on the southern margin of Rosamond Dry Lake Bed. The area spans 9,600 acres and consists of numerous clay pan ponds and low sand dunes. 

For most of us, it’s right on our doorstep, yet few of us have enjoyed photographing the wildlife there. Since Piute Ponds is a part of Edwards AFB, special permits are necessary prior to entering. Photographers may submit a request for access directly to Edwards AFB by emailing Misty at Piute Ponds Access Request - Misty will contact you for further information. 

Wanda Deal has long been affiliated with Piute Ponds and she will give us the details on what wildlife is there and the specific rules for safely enjoying your time there. Her passion for the area will be apparent as she discusses Piute Ponds attributes.
