Holiday Party: December 15, 2015

Douglas Wade, our President, welcomed 45 LPA members & guests to our annual Holiday Party. Our wonderful volunteers transformed the senior center into a party atmosphere, with tables covered with runners topped with fresh cut springs of pine, cones, and sparkly snowflakes. Holiday music filled the air, photos of creative holiday entries from years past along with S4C winning images were projected, and friends joyfully mingled in their holiday attire.
The delicious Mexican dinner was catered by El Pollo Loco and included fire roasted chicken, enchiladas, rice, beans, corn, cole slaw, salad, chips and salsa. The colorful desert table was potluck style and worthy of photographing.
Before dining, Dale Ware read an “Inspiration”, a moment to reflect upon this past year and our passion for photography. It was originated by Joanne Stolte in 2009, and customized a bit for LPA.
Rock Myers was emcee for the evening, and kept us all laughing with his jokes - You Might Be a Photographer If… Wayne Staley recognized Lyle Trusty for his outstanding contributions to the LPA and presented him with a personalized LPA mug. Mounted photos and greeting cards were collected and donated to the senior center to use for prizes for their special events. After dinner, Carol Moss and her carolers led the group in festive holiday songs.
Our evening program consisted of images from the past year’s LPA field trips and events. Members were given the microphone to speak about their images if desired. Beautiful images were displayed from trips to Downtown LA, Mounted Cowboy Shooting, Hank Morris Portrait Workshop, Huntington Gardens, LA County Air Show, Randsburg, Red Rock Canyon, Prime Desert, Senior Center Winter Ball, and the AV Fair.

A big huge thank you to ALL who volunteered, brought food & desserts, decorated the tables and room, submitted images for the presentations, sang the holiday songs, and helped with clean up. Your help along with $10 donations per person made for a terrific party!
