PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY OF AMERICA (PSA) REPORT FOR JUNE 2016

PSA Annual Conference, San Antonio, TX: In 2016, the PSA conference will be held in San Antonio, Texas from September 10-17. The conference hotel is the Wyndham, San Antonio Riverwalk.

PSA Projected Image Division Interclub (Round 4): Entries for the PID Interclub (last round) were the following: “Heavenly Egret” (Holly Peskin), “Honey Bee” (Bruce Cable ), “Miner’s Cabin” (Terry Dickerson), “Painted Peacock” (Sue Liberto), “Poultry” (Kurtiss Humphrey), and “Stare Down” (Robert Christman). Congratulations Holly for winning an Honorable Mention.

PSA PID Creative Interclub (Round 3): Entries for the Projected Image Division Creative Interclub were the following: “1932 Ford 3 Window Coupe” (Rock Myers), “Cranes on Watch” (Robert Christman), “Gal Shooting Blown Away” (Shirl Airov-Bieling), “Pontiac Style 2793” (Pam Vick), “Sandhill 5451” (Nan Carder), and “Wisteria Girl” (Kathy Newman).


PSA Projected Image Division Individual Portrait Competition: The Individual Portrait Competition will be accepting entries for Round 3 closes July 11th.

 

PSA Membership Milestones: Congratulations Arliss Dawson, Bonnie Matthews-Franke, and Helen Henry for receiving their five-year Membership Milestone certificates. PSA awards certificates to PSA members when a membership milestone has been reached in PSA.

 

PSA Youth Photography Showcase: This year five local high schools participated in the PSA Youth Photography Showcase, including Highland High School (four acceptances), Knight High School (three acceptances), Palmdale High School, Quartz Hill High School (four acceptances), and Virtual Academy (two acceptances). These images and prints will be displayed at the PSA Conference in San Antonio, TX, in September.

PSA Membership Milestones: PSA recognizes members who have belonged to PSA for at least five years. Chris Wilkins is the Director of this program. We would like to recognize the following LPA members.

PSA International Exhibitions:

Europa 2016: Shirl Airov-Bieling had an acceptance in the Europa 2016 International Salon of Photography in the Projected Image Division theme Experimental and/or Creative with her image “Child Pixie”

Ridgewood 33rd International Exhibition: Three LPA members participated in the Ridgewood International Exhibition. S4C International Exhibition: Entries are open now May for this year’s S4C International Exhibition. Entries close on July 17, 2016.

Southern California Council of Camera Clubs (S4C)

International Exhibition 2016

 

Entries are now open for the S4C International Exhibition. This exhibition is recognized by the Photographic Society of America and licensed by the Global Photographic Union.

This year again, S4C will offer 14 Sections across five PSA divisions.

PID Color: General (Open) and Theme: Scapes (Landscapes, Cityscapes, or Seascapes)

PID Monochrome: General (Open) and Theme: Animal(s)

Nature: General (Open) and Wildlife

Photo Travel: General (Open) and Theme: People Engaged in Activity

Photojournalism: General (Open) and Theme: Human Interest

Print: Small Color General (Open) and Theme: Creative

Small Mono General (Open) and Theme: Animals

The closing date will be July 17, 2016. Print judging will be July 23, 2016 and the Digital Medal Round judging will be July 30, 2016.
