PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY OF AMERICA (PSA) REPORT FOR JULY 2017

PSA Annual Conference, Pittsburg, PA: The 2017 conference will be held at the Pittsburgh Marriott City Center on October 8th - October 14th, 2017.  Registration is remains open. We are hoping for fall colors. Some tours have filled up. There will be Portrait, Close-Up, and Model Workshops.  The Model Workshops will be given by Doug Hansgate. Other conference workshops include a Portrait Workshop, Close-up/Macro Workshop, and Portfolio Distinctions Advisory Workshop.

Some of the main speakers include Canon’s Explorer of Light, Adam Jones; professional artist Rob Knight speaking about “Making the Most of your Next Photo Workshop”; Nature and wildlife photographer Joe McDonald; architecture photographer Frank T. Smith; and in-house lawyer Nancy Wolff who will discuss issues of copyright, trademark, and information about model releases.

Projected Image Division Creative Interclub (Round 2): The results of the Second Round of the Photographic Society of America’s Projected Image Division Creative Interclub competition have been announced. Receiving awards were the following: Terry Dickerson with ‘Old Abandoned Mine’; Kathy Newman with ‘Ephemeral 1’; and Nan Carder, APSA, MPSA, with ‘Egret and Foxtail’.

The Lancaster Photography Association tied for second place. Other Lancaster Photography Association members competing were the following: Shirl Airov-Bieling, Helen Henry, and Pam Vick.

Projected Image Division Creative Interclub (Round 3): Congratulations Kathy Newman for receiving an award with ‘Steampunk Dreams’. Other members competing were the following: Nan Carder, APSA, MPSA, ‘Egret 7540’, Terry Dickerson ‘Where Fairies Come From’, Bill Sutton ‘A Strange Place’, Pam Vick ‘California Highway’, and Robert Christman ‘Fishes and Roses’.

PSA Photojournalism Division Interclub (Round 4): Congratulations Doug Wade! Doug received 1st place PJ Human Interest with Little Ladies Dancing, Bruce Cable (Blue Angels Mirror Image) received a HM in PJ General. Other LPA members participating were the following: Nan Carder (Girl on a Swing), Kathy Newman (Caitlyn), Christine Wilkins (Off the Ground), and David Wilkins (Thunderbirds 5 and 6).

PSA Photo Travel Division Interclub Competition (Round 3): There were no Awards or HMs in Round 3.

S4C International Exhibition:  Entries remain open for this year’s S4C International Exhibition until August 10, 2017.  Judging is August 24, 2017. https://www.s4c-ex.org

This year, S4C will offer 10 Sections across four PSA divisions.
