Creative Competition - January 19, 2021
On January 19, 2021 at 6:00 p.m., Lancaster Photography Association will be hosting our first competition of the new year - Creative! Our judge will be Mel Carll. So get those creative images ready! The altered reality can be in-camera, like a double exposure, long exposure, black light, or it can be in post-processing. Use your imagination and enter your best images!

CREATIVE DEFINITION: CREATIVE - Creative is defined as altered reality that is apparent to the viewer. This definition includes alterations utilizing: Computer manipulation, colored lights and gels, black light, Mylar, sandwiches, projected images, double exposures, zoomed images, lithograph, and birefringence. The image should have strong composition, pleasing quality, and color, texture, pattern, and/or tone impact. The appropriateness of the technique selected and pictorial merit is considered in judging. Small amounts of manipulating images (changing opacity, using filters, adding text, fantasy or textured backgrounds, etc) is NOT considered Creative. The content is unrestricted. ABOUT OUR JUDGE: Mel Carll is a Santa Clarita Valley based photographer and instructor, currently shooting architectural, weddings, family portraits, corporate product shots and special events. He is currently on the Board of Directors for the Santa Clarita Photographers Association and a Past President for Professional Photographers of Los Angeles County (PPLAC). Mel is an award-winning photographer having won Best of Show and Image of the year in the 2010 Professional Photographers of Los Angeles County print competitions, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018 Commercial Photographer of the year for the Professional Photographers of Los Angeles County and has also won
numerous awards with the Santa Clarita Valley Photographers Association print competitions.
