OCTOBER 22, 2024 - HANDICAMERABLE with Darcy Quimby

When the physical demands and challenges of getting around steal the desire to shoot, this presentation is for you.

On October 22, 2024, Lancaster Photography Association will have our monthly workshop at the Antelope Valley Senior Center at 6:00 p.m.

Darcy will be sharing her experiences and tricks for taking pictures when the body is no longer capable.  She has been in a wheelchair when photographing since 2022.  Let her take you on her journey of adaptation and changing perspectives through her images.

She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis MS in 2008. Darcy picked up a camera in 2011 to keep active and document the summer trips she and her husband would take.  In 2015 she got a 'Big Girl' camera and dove into learning everything she could about photography.  As her physical ability started to become an issue, her camera skills were increasing. She started using a cane, then a walker and now from a wheelchair.  Not wanting to give up photography, Darcy came up with more adaptations to allow her to continue

her photographic journey.

Darcy will be sharing those ideas and perspectives to help you continue your own journey when physical limitations interfere. Through the images she shares you will see that she doesn’t see being limited to a wheelchair as a limitation as much as it is an opportunity.
