Meeting & Christmas Dinner, December 2008

Meetings

We had a festive evening, enjoying the company of 78 members and visitors in attendance for a Lasagna dinner, listening to wonderful Christmas Carols on the piano by the talented Lisa Craft.

Rob Sheppard provided the program “Guaranteed Better Digital Photography,” which was outstanding for the novice through the advance photographer. After Rob’s presentation, he critiqued each Salon entry and then Sue Craft presented him with a Certificate of Appreciation.

Lyle Trusty arranged a Salon Show, where Master Photographers displayed a framed sample of their best work. All members were able to vote on their favorite photograph and Rob Sheppard announced the winner. Congratulations to Lyle Trusty for Members Choice Award.

Lyle Trusty presented a Service Award to JoAnne Stolte for all her work and her passion she shares with LPA. Lyle also presented JoAnne with A Certificate of Appreciation and Honorary LPA Membership.

The new name of the newsletter was voted on and announced. “Desert Exposure” is the winner and will now appear on LPA’s newsletter. Great Job Members!

We would like to thank Tylene Trout and Pat Ware who gave so generously of their time in the planning of the Christmas party. We would also like to thank all others who contributed to the night’s festivities. We had 78 people attend and approx 15 people made this event happen for everyone. Sometimes, we forget to say thank you, so… “to all those that made the evening a success—Thank you”

A special “thank you” to the Jung family for raffle baskets, pottery gifts, and the various other gifts they donated for the Christmas party. George is the “potter” in the family. The gifts were nice and everyone enjoyed them. Again…thank you. The Jung family has been taking care of the raffles for over a year and doing an excellent job!

Nola Zhang won the lottery for the Canon IPF5000 printer.

by Bonnie J Matthews-Franke

Bonnie has been taking pictures since she was a little girl, but she didn't get into digital photography until about 2009, just before she joined the club.

Matthews-Franke finds the club to be very beneficial to her. The interaction with other members, being able to ask questions, the workshops and the knowledge that I take away from the club is phenomenal.

She believes the meetings, workshops and field trips are very beneficial, specially to the new members. Her favorites were the Fall Color Trips; Mono Lake Trips and the workshops were she had her camera and could play along.

She love landscapes. She just finished a vacation trip to Oregon where she photographed lighthouses, old barns and covered bridges. The older the structure the better Smile.
She also loves portraits, and shooting in her own studio.

Matthews-Franke has more than a few Canon's, a Canon 7D, a Canon 5D MKII and a few more with a variety of lenses and accessories. Her favorite lens is a 28-135mm ,70-200mm. & 100mm.

Matthews-Franke was our secretary of the club for a few years and helped made many changes to help us grow.
