We had 46 members and 2 visitors attend our March Creative Imagine Competition and General meeting.

Terri Garner briefly touched on the changes in the By-Laws and Constitution as she had gone over them in depth the month before. The By-Laws committee consisted of Dean Webb, Terri Garner, John Shedrick and David Wilkins. The members present voted on the proposed new By-Laws and Constitution. Terri Garner announced the results of the earlier votes: By-Laws 49 yes, and 1 no = PASS and Constitution: 46 yes, and 4 no = PASS. The changes go into place April 1, 2009. A VERY BIG thank you to the By-Laws committee for their very hard work on behalf of the club.

John Shedrick gave us an update on the AV Fair. John and Dave Anderson will Co-Chair this position officially. ALL ENTRIES ARE ONLINE ONLY. The preferred method of paying your premium is by credit card. Please sign up for fair committee meeting tonight. We are anticipating a large participation and amount of clerks and we need between 7 and 8, sign up now.

John Shedrick reported on the following workshop activity: March 24 – Basic Photography Workshop by Tylene Trout at the Senior Center. Subjects covered will be Composition, Depth-of-Field, Automatic Mode vs. Creative Mode, exposure, common problems, and other technical information. Then April 28 – Off camera flash Stokley Wilson from King Photo at the Senior Center. May 26 Ted Dayton, President of the Santa Clarita Photography club, Multiprocessing of RAW imaging files, bring your laptops with you. June 20— Preparing Photo entries for the fair at the AV Fair’s Van Dam Bldg.

Sue Craft reported our program agenda for Apr 21 – Don Gale – “Nature, Wildlife, & Landscape Techniques and June 16 – Year End Competition, Installation of Officers, and program by John Haslett, on Voyage of the Manteño. Be sure NOT to miss these two exciting nights!

Sue also announced the Poppy Festival April 25-26, 2009 at Lancaster City Park. She needs volunteers for this event beginning on set up day, April 24. Please contact Sue and watch the Web for more information.

Fred Griggs reported on our competitions themes. May – Desert Scenes / Desert Wildflowers. If you have any questions be sure to ask Fred, go online to the LPA Website and look under Competition Rules. Since there was a lot of confusion with tonight’s definition, please if you have ANY questions, ask the chairperson, a board member, go to the Friday night Discussion group, or go to the LPA Forum. We are here for the all members.

David Wilkins said he is always looking for articles for the Newsletters. Great job David!

S4C/PSA: Lyle Trusty reminded us of the upcoming S4C meeting April 11, 2009. Deadline to enter is midnight on March 31.

Lyle Trusty is in charge of the nominating committee.

Competition began with Helen Henry judging Novice, Amateur and Advance Amateur and Kay Hendrickson judging the Master division and slides. We had 39 Digital entries, 15 prints and 10 slides. We would like to thank both judges for their experience, their comments and their commitment to LPA.

Sue Liberto is the new Food/Refreshment chairperson. Thank you Sue. Please volunteer to bring snacks for the monthly meeting. You are reimbursed up to $30. Sign up on the LPA Webpage. We would like to thank Marilyn Dalrymple for the refreshments this month.
