Discusson Group Notes November 6, 2009
We were six, an uncommon number.
Someone mentioned that Costco now refills HP, Lexmark, and Dell ink cartridges. I expressed my disappointment because I have an Epson printer.
Bonnie showed her portfolio of portraits. That was worth attending this session all by itself because she's taken some beautiful photos of Salsa and Zumba dancers as well as models and a few club members. Catching a Zumba dancer in mid-swing standing on one hand takes real talent.
Since Bonnie showed her portfolio Terri and Lee showed theirs. We all got to see some really great photos. I especially like Lee's Canada photos.
Terri said that they were getting a Spyder and we got on the subject of computers, monitors, and software. I recently upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 and somewhere along the way Windows lost my calibration settings so I'm going to have to recalibrate before I do any serious photoshopping. Otherwise my upgrade went very easy and all photo applications kept working.

Bonnie wants to upgrade from XP but this will format her hard drive. The problem is that she's been upgrading her applications, like Photoshop, and doesn't have any recent full-up versions. This means that she'll have to either go back to a very old version and do multiple upgrades or call Adobe and try to work things out with them.
I talked about Julia and my experiences on Halloween and described some of the photos I took. I hadn't brought in my laptop to show them but I promised to add them to this writeup. I thought they came out fairly well considering my camera only goes up to 1600 ISO, it was night, and I was hand holding the camera.
If you can, please join us each Friday evening at Denny's at the corner of Ave K and 20th West. We begin about 6:30 PM and usually go to at least 8:30 PM. You can drop by at anytime and stay for as long as you like (you don't even have to buy anything). Denny's has graciously provided us a section to ourselves and the service is great.
All photography related subjects are fair game and there's never a planned agenda. You can bring in your questions, your stories, your equipment, your photos (paper or digital), or even just yourself to sit, listen, and/or talk.
I would again like to extend a special invitation to both new members and the more expert members who would like to participate in these informal discussions.
