December 2012 S4C Report

S4C News

The third S4C Competition was held on December 8th by remote judging and the entries submitted were: A- Brent Bremer, Wayne Staley, Pam Vick, Holly Peskin and AA- Lee Simmons, Paul Craft, Nan Carder and Bonnie Matthews.  Wayne Staley received an HM for “Magnolia,” Holly Peskin received an HM for “Ballerina” and Lee Simmons received an Award for her “California Poppy “. Congratulations to all!  The fourth competition will open on Dec 15th and close on Jan 5th. The judging will take place on Jan 12th.  We are looking for good images to submit this competition year for both A and AA levels. The January competition will be remote judging with no Delegate or Board meetings. The next Delegate, Board and print competition will be February 9th. I would like to encourage LPA members to attend the next competition as a field trip (like we have done in the past). I will put this together after the holidays. Since there were only 4 exhibitors in the print competition during this past competition, we would like to get our members to participate in the February print competition. The print rules are on the S4C web site http://www.pcms-photo.org/s4c_entrants_homepage.html.

LPA members, please send me any images you would like considered for the LPA Interclub competitions. Please send all images to bonniejmatthews@hotmail.com and call Bonnie if you have any questions.

by Bonnie J Matthews-Franke

Bonnie has been taking pictures since she was a little girl, but she didn't get into digital photography until about 2009, just before she joined the club.

Matthews-Franke finds the club to be very beneficial to her. The interaction with other members, being able to ask questions, the workshops and the knowledge that I take away from the club is phenomenal.

She believes the meetings, workshops and field trips are very beneficial, specially to the new members. Her favorites were the Fall Color Trips; Mono Lake Trips and the workshops were she had her camera and could play along.

She love landscapes. She just finished a vacation trip to Oregon where she photographed lighthouses, old barns and covered bridges. The older the structure the better Smile.
She also loves portraits, and shooting in her own studio.

Matthews-Franke has more than a few Canon's, a Canon 7D, a Canon 5D MKII and a few more with a variety of lenses and accessories. Her favorite lens is a 28-135mm ,70-200mm. & 100mm.

Matthews-Franke was our secretary of the club for a few years and helped made many changes to help us grow.
