AV Senior Center Photo Op June 7, 2013
LPA Members Rock Myers, Sue Liberto, Sue Craft, Tina Crowe and Norma Boggs volunteered to take photos for the Annual Senior Prom.
It was a “Red Carpet” event, where the “Paparazzi “photographed entrants as they made their way to the ballroom (aka the senior center dining room). The room was transformed, with room for a dance floor, covered tables and festive balloons. Guests arrived in semi-formal attire, and immediately fell into a party atmosphere, as the live band, “Saggy Bottom Boys” made the stage and dance floor come alive. Some of those seniors sure know how to dance!!! Seniors rocked the floor!
Over 100 seniors filled the room, and I think they’re now getting used to LPA members taking photos of them, as they now pose and say “Take our picture, please!” The center provided a backdrop, and decorations, and Rock Myers brought an additional backdrop, and soft box lights for our “mini portrait studio”. Rock had fun posing the seniors and made them feel comfortable posing in front the camera. Sue C and Sue L took turns being the portrait photographer. All LPA photographers took turns roaming and capturing those special moments of guests socializing with friends, dancing, and even having a toast to good times with cupcakes!
It was a delight to photograph the event, as the organizers and participants were all so thankful. It was nice to give something back to the senior center. It was also fun to photograph with fellow LPA photographers, to learn more about indoor flash photography, and to practice!
Again, a CD full of photos was provided to the Senior Center, to share with attendees or utilize as desired. Attendees always ask… how can I get copies of photos? Rock Myers handed out a card to attendees with a link to where they could go to view photos 24 hours later, and purchase for a minimal charge, if desired.
