End of Year Competition & General Meeting Night: June 19, 2013
David Wilkins, our President, welcomed over 47 members to our End of Year Competition, S4C/PSA Photography Celebration, and Installation of Officers.
The 1st place winners for the 2012-2013 competed for the Year End - Members Choice Awards. All results for the competition can be seen on the LPA website. Congratulations to ALL the Winners! Each will received a certificate and ribbon, and will be awarded an acrylic plaque with their name, and the title of winning photo.
Thank you to Chris Wilkins and Wayne Staley, Competition Chairs for the past two years. They will be notifying those of you who won your second LPA in your blue ribbon this year, in your level, as you will get to move up July 1.
Bonnie Matthews recognized the S4C Year End Award Winners. In addition to verbal recognition, Bonnie had a nice presentation of winners listed, along with some of the photos. All LPA members are encouraged to participate in S4C. The new competition year begins in October. If you need help, please contact Bonnie. Participation can be on an individual or interclub basis.
Nan Carder shared a photo presentation to recognize LPA Members who participated in the George Glennie Nature Salon, and PSA Interclub Competitions. LPA did very well! The PSA Youth Showcase Photos and Awards, which featured our local high school photography students, was shown. Thank you to Nan Carder and Tina Crowe for encouraging local high school photography teachers and their students to participate PSA.
As a thank you, a bouquet of flowers was presented to Terri Garner, on behalf of all those who sold at the Poppy Festival in April. Terri gave up her entire weekend (which was a HOT one!), and took care of the record keeping through all the heat and sweat.
Thank you to Tina Crowe for bringing the jumbo sized cake from Costco, to celebrate! There was only one piece left and we gave it to the guard. LPA members love to snack. Please consider providing snack for any LPA non-competition night. The LPA can reimburse you for up to $30. Sign up on the LPA website.
