April 19 2022 - Street Photography with Christopher Broughton

On April 19, 2022, at 6:00 p.m., Lancaster Photography Association is excited to have Christopher Broughton speak to us! We will be meeting in-person at the Antelope Valley Senior Center (777 W Jackman St, Lancaster, CA 93534) for the first time in two years. It will be great to see everyone together again! Join us for a great time of learning! We will also have a Zoom link available (technology permitting) for those who are too far away to attend in person.

What is street photography? Christopher Broughton will introduce the concept of using “street photography” as a practice field for improving our photographic seeing? The presentation will include tools, techniques, prompts, and resources to match anyone’s skill level. In addition to the presentation a large selection of prints will be displayed to discuss the final step in Broughton’s process and that is the Fine Art Print.

Christopher has been teaching photography in undergraduate and graduate photography programs since 1996. Currently he is teaching photography at Antelope Valley College and Mount Saint Mary’s University. He served as a faculty member from 1996-2016 at Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa
Barbara California. His course offerings have included courses in Digital Photography, Digital Asset Management, The View Camera, Introduction to the Studio, Advanced Studio Applications, Zone System, Optics of Fine Art, Street Photography and Photographic Theory.

One of the true highlights of his teaching has been the opportunity to spend the last 7 summers before COVID taking students abroad to study in the “city of light” Paris for the summer.

In addition to photographic education, he is also a photographer/retoucher for the commercial photo studio at Deckers Brands (Ugg, Koolaburra, Hoka, Teva, Sanuk, and Deckers X-Lab) in Goleta, CA. He teaches classes at UCSB extension, and is a regular presenter at the Santa Maria, Lompoc, Santa
Barbara, Oxnard, Thousand Oaks, Ojai, Northridge and Los Angeles camera groups!
