Becoming a PPA Certified Professional Photographer

On July 25, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. at Antelope Valley Senior Center, Lancaster Photography Association is hosting a workshop led by our own Vice-President, Andrew Lewis. He recently took the test from PPA to become a Certified Professional Photographer and wants to share the process and the benefits.

The Certified Professional Photographer (CPP) program offered by the Professional Photographers of America is a way for photographers to demonstrate knowledge and mastery of their craft. The two-step process involves a written examination as well as technical image evaluation. The title “Certified Professional Photographer” demonstrates to a client that the photographer has indicated the knowledge, confidence, and ability to consistently produce quality work. The written examination ensures knowledge of the principles of photography as well as demonstrating an understanding of the technical aspects of producing an image.

The Technical Image Evaluation involves standardized items and requires the candidate to put the knowledge to work to produce three images in accordance with given instructions.
