HUMAN INTEREST – Human Interest is defined as an image depicting a person or persons in an interactive, emotional or unusual situation, excluding recreational or organized sports action.
Guidelines for Human Interest Images: As with all reality-based divisions, we do not permit techniques that add, relocate, replace or remove any element of the original image, except by cropping. The only allowable modifications are removal of dust, scratches or digital noise, restoration of the existing appearance of the original scene,
sharpening that is not obvious, and complete conversion to grayscale monochrome. Other derivations, including infrared, are not eligible. All allowed adjustments must appear natural.“Restoration of the appearance of the original scene” may include techniques such as HDR, focus stacking and dodging/burning provided they do not alter the contents of the original scene and the result looks natural. Borders are optional, but must be 3 or 4 pixels in width and must be white or a shade of grey.
Our judge will be Randy Carr, via Zoom from Oklahoma.

I was born in March 1950 in Central Illinois where my father introduced me to photography in my late teens. While serving in the Army, I had two friends that showed me darkroom, composition and numerous tricks and techniques. On my own I developed a love for photojournalism and nature photography. After retiring from Bob Moore Autoplex (Sales Manager) I decided to dust off my cameras in 2004. This year I joined the Oklahoma Camera Club and served as president twice. I also joined Photographic Society of America and was Exhibition Standards Director for Asia. After a few years I was asked to become Photojournalism Chairmen. Later I became V.P. Exhibition Standards.
I’ve really enjoyed being a ringside photographer for Boxing and MMA at local casinos and other various locations. Now I shoot for me and many Salons worldwide, as well as being asked to become an International Judge.
I’ve received numerous ribbons and medals, but my favorite was winning PSA Photojournalist of the year twice (Smith Award) and becoming a Master Photojournalist.
