WORKSHOP - BASIC PHOTOGRAPHY COMPOSITION

On March 25, 2025, Lancaster Photography Association is presenting a composition workshop at 6:00 p.m. at the Antelope Valley Senior Center.

Andrew Lewis will be leading the workshop.

Patterns? Textures? What happens if I break the RULE of thirds? Is the rule of odds an odd rule? Who’s this Fibonacci guy and what does he know about photography?

What makes an image aesthetically pleasing? Where should my eye go in the frame? Why do I like this photograph but am not so fond of that one?

All of these questions involve composition. Elements of composition go together to define the techniques used to compose an image that tells a story, makes the viewer feel a certain way, or just stands out. You’re probably already seeing some of the elements and don’t even know it. We’ll help you learn and recognize what sets one image apart from another and bring your photography up a level or two.
