Some areas of this web site are only available to logged-in members.  Before you can submit images to a competition, for instance, you need to register for an account here.
<note tip>If you're an LPA member, chances are you already have an account.  Try using the "Forgot your Password" link and give only your e-mail address.  If that doesn't work, send an email to webmaster@lpaphotography.org and we'll let you know for certain.</note>
To create a new account, you need to provide a few pieces of information:
  * A unique username (user ID)
  * A unique e-mail address
  * A password
  * Your full name
  * Your address, city, state, and phone number.  This information isn't displayed anywhere, but is used to contact you regarding your competition entries.

Both the user ID and the e-mail address must be unique.  If you don't have a unique e-mail address, you can visit [[http://www.gmail.com]] to set one up for free.  Currently this e-mail address is used only to send password reminders and, if you choose, notifications when content is updated.  Another option is to submit an email address with a plus sign ("+") after the username portion.  See "I don't have a unique e-mail address" below.

If you're having trouble logging into this site, or can't register as a new user, read on for some possible answers.

=====Using the Lost Password Link=====
If you have an account on our site but don't know your password, or if your password is not working, you can click the "Lost your Password" link under the login boxes.  Or, just click [[http://www.lpaphotography.com/users.php?mode=getpassword|this link]].

Enter //either// your user ID (if you know it) or your e-mail address in the appropriate blank.  (If you enter both, the user ID is used).  Click the "Email Password" button and an email will be sent to the email address that we have on file.

=====I don't know my user ID=====
If you don't know your user ID, or even whether you have one, your first step should be to use the Lost Password function and enter your e-mail address only into the space provided.  If you've got an account using that address, you'll get an email that includes your user ID.  If you don't, a message will be displayed to that effect and you can register for a new account.
<note>Each account must have a unique e-mail address, so you won't be able to register for an account with an email address that's already registered.</note>

If, for some reason, this doesn't work, then just email [[webmaster@lpaphotography.org]] and we'll check it out.

=====I don't have a unique e-mail address=====
If you need to sign up on this site, but don't have your own email address, there are options.
  - You can easily sign up for a free e-mail account at GMail.com or a similar service, as mentioned above.
  - You can try using an existing e-mail account by adding "+identifier" to the name portion of the address.  This is a standard form of an e-mail address and should be supported by your e-mail system.  For example, "johndoe+alice@example.com", "johndoe+bob@example.com" and "johndoe+charlie@example.com" will create three unique e-mail addresses for this site.  The e-mail messages for each will be delivered to "johndoe@example.com".
    * This means that any password-recovery emails will be sent to the master e-mail address.  For security reasons, this method is not recommended.  However, it may be useful in the case of a family membership to supply e-mail addresses for children.
    * Check with your e-mail provider by sending a test message using this format.  If you don't receive the message, then your provider does not support this [[http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5322#section-3.2.3|Internet standard]].  [[http://www.gmail.com|GMail]] is known to support this method.
