Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015 there will be a total lunar eclipse AND the biggest full Moon of the year!! Here are some details for viewing in the greater L.A. area:
6:39pm - Moon will be rising due east already partially eclipsed! Notice the curvature of the shadow which is due to the roundness of the Earth. 6:42pm - Sunset. 7:11pm - Total eclipse begins. 7:47pm - Middle if the eclipse (Moon will be at its darkest). 8:23pm - Total eclipse ends. 9:27pm - Moon leaves the Earth's dark shadow ...the eclipse ends. A great place to view the lunar eclipse is from the top of Saddleback Butte!
