All LPA members are invited for a day trip to the Santa Barbara Pier on Saturday February the 11th at 2:00 PM.  We will meet at the Fish and Chip Building Sign located on the Rust Colored Building on the pier. Restrooms are located right next to the Fish Sign. Parking is available on the pier, east and west of the pier and at the Santa Barbara Public Parking Lot.

We should be able to get some great shots of birds, boats, surfers and many other interesting subjects on and around the Pier.  Sunset will occur at about 5:30 PM so don't forget your tripod for low light shots.

Anyone interested in an after trip meet up for dinner (7 PM) can follow us to The Habit restaurant located near the Ventura Pier in Ventura.

On Friday, December 16, 2022, we are going to the Los Angeles Zoo for a field trip! It is a great place to take animal photos for Nature competitions, as well as macro, flower, and human interest photos.

You will need to purchase your ticket on-line or at the ticket booth there, unless you have a membership.

We will meet just inside the entrance at 10:00 for a group photo and then explore the zoo for as long as you like!

We would like to invite our LPA members to participate in a field trip to Hollywood Forever Cemetery for the Day of the Dead festival on October 29, 2022. Tom Jordan is leading this field trip with Kathy as a co-leader. This is a field trip you will not want to miss! All who went last year agree this event is filled with many amazing photo ops! Meeting Place: Hollywood Forever Cemetery - 6000 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, CA. Meet to the left just after you pass through the entrance.

Time: 9:00 a.m.– 3:00 p.m. Get there early for parking and to line up before 9:00.

On August 27, 2022, Lancaster Photography is hosting a field trip to Red Rock Canyon for some night photography, including star trails and Milky Way opportunities. It will be a new moon, so it should be a great night for taking all those night photos you have been wanting to capture.

We plan to grab 1 or 2 campsites at Ricardo Campground (depending on how many attend) and spend the evening learning more about the nuances of night photography. It is a pretty dark area, so we should be able to capture some great images. If allowed, we may even have a fire for roasting hotdogs or marshmallows. Make sure to bring a tripod and preferably a wired shutter release (radio triggers can interfere with each other). You do not need an intervalometer. Please bring a very low power light source. Red lights can actually ruin shots because red light is hard to remove from a photo, but a low power flashlight or headlamp that you can point down is much more doable.

On Saturday, April 30 th , Lancaster Photography Association is planning a field trip to the Renaissance Fair. The Renaissance Fair is open from 10:00 to 7:00 p.m. with many performers and shows to enjoy.

We will meet at the entrance at 10:00 a.m. for a group photo and then head into the event for a great day of photography!

Tickets are $38.00 plus fee. Tickets are available on-line at https://renfair.com/socal/tickets/

Parking is 12.00 per vehicle. Carpool if you would like. They have reduced parking this year because of a burrowing owl nest, so they recommend getting there by 9:30. There is also VIP Parking which can be purchased in advance.

All LPA members are invited to attend a three-day weekend trip starting on Friday February 25th to Sunday February 27th in Death Valley National Park.

We will meet at 3:00 PM at Stove Pipe Wells Store to take some evening sand dune images until it it gets dark. After having dinner, we will be meeting at the Harmony Borax Work Exhibit at 9:00 PM for some Astro Photography.  Kurtis will be giving a live demonstration of how to track and take images with his telescopes.  One telescope will be hooked up to his Ipad for real time viewing of galaxies, nebula and star clusters. After 2 or 3 hours of taking some Astro Photography at the Harmony Borax Work Exhibit, we will be heading to the old Ghost Town Rhyolite in nearby Nevada, for some more night images.

On Saturday, December 4, 2021, from 5 to 8 PM LPA members are invited to join our field trip to this event. The Antelope Valley Indian Museum is hosting a “Holidays on the Homestead” evening. The museum’s grounds will be decorated in vintage holiday style and feature live acoustic music around a campfire, tours of the grounds, a country craft boutique, real cowboy coffee brewed over the fire, and hot chocolate or cider for the kids! Explore the unique hand-built museum and whimsical grounds at night, with soft lighting and the smell of fresh greenery, and the wintery sky sparkling over the desert. Each event admission includes a bowl of chili with cornbread provided by The Lemon Leaf Café.

Event admission is $10 for adults, $5 for ages 6-12, and ages 5 and under are free.

All LPA members are invited for a day trip to the Ventura Pier on Saturday, November 13th. We will meet at the front of the Ventura Pier at 1:00 PM and take some great pics of seagulls, boats, surfers and whatever catches your eye. We will be practicing safe distancing and following all state guidelines on this trip.

After about 90 minutes, we can head on over to the Ventura Mission for some more photo opportunities and walk around the Mission.  If you are into some shopping there is some nice thrift stores and restaurants right next to the Mission.  This should be a fun trip.

Sunset is at approximately 5 p.m., so hang out for great Pier/sunset shots, and maybe dinner afterwards, depending on people’s schedules.
