Golden Dragon Parade Field Trip
February 1, 2020 11:00AM - 5:00PM
[image1_left]The 121 st Golden Dragon Parade will be held in Chinatown on Saturday, February 1 st , 2020. We are planning a No-Host Field Trip to the parade with a photowalk afterwards. Anyone who wants to meet up is welcome to join.
[image2_right]The plan will be to meet in front of Ocean Seafood Restaurant (750 N. Hill St., Los Angeles) at approx. 11 am. We will watch the lion dancers perform in the alley before the parade, grab an early lunch, then find a spot on Hill St or Broadway to watch and photograph the parade. After the parade we will do a photowalk north on Broadway to Chinatown’s Central Plaza. The plaza should have lots of interesting things to shoot. We can then walk down to the southern end of Chinatown and photograph the Twin Dragon Gateway, grab some dinner, or just leave from there.

[image3_right]Parking:
There is a large parking lot at 725 N. Spring St. (two streets to the east of Broadway between Ord and Alpine). If you park in the lot next to Ocean Seafood instead, be prepared to leave your car there for the duration of the event (around 5 pm) due to street closures. If you
park in the lot on Spring St., you might be able to avoid some of the closures and access your car before the parade route reopens.
Timeline:
Street Closures Start at 10 am
Parade Starts at 1 pm
Parade Ends at 3:30 pm
Streets Reopen at 5 pm
You could use public transportation if you want to avoid traffic in the area. Union Station is several blocks south of the meet up location.
