Holiday Lights Field Trip Follow- Up
December 3rd brought out a dozen or so LPA members to shoot holiday lights on Clark Court and the holiday festivities on Lancaster Blvd afterwards. Even though only a few houses were fully decorated on the street at that point, there were still lots of interesting things to shoot. Arriving at 4pm gave everyone plenty of time to not only take the “normal” shots with longer exposures and a tungsten white balance setting but also to get creative with zooming in/ out during long exposures and with camera movement to create light streams. Over on the Blvd it was more about using a flash to capture faces full of holiday spirit – from face painting to caroling to marionettes to Nutcracker ballerinas.
Clark Court is probably fully decorated by now so make sure to go see it if you haven’t already. A word to the wise, go on a week night as the weekends are super crowded and you have to park several blocks away and walk in. We really weren’t crazy by going a half hour before sunset and staying until a half hour passed it. You’ll get the best sky colors at that time. Honest! Just remember to have all your batteries charged up. It might not hurt to have your manuals in the car if it’s been awhile since using your camera or flash. The tip sheet from this trip is online and in the December newsletter. You’ll find lots of images from the trip in the event gallery on the website as well. Many thanks to Sue Craft and Faith W for a fun trip!
