Portrait Workshop, Feb 7 & 8 2015

Archives

[image1_left]We will be holding our fourth Portrait Workshop conducted by Hank Morris at his studio in Rosamond, at 5852 Felsite Ave, on February 07 and 08, 2015. Hank shoots all kinds of photography: Family, Wedding, etc., but specializes primarily in High School Senior Portraits.

We’re hoping to accommodate everyone who wishes to attend by having three (maybe four) separate sessions.  Due to the limited room in his studio, attendance needs to be limited to ten people per session.  Each person may only sign up for one session.

Each session will be approximately three hours long and will consist of about one hour of instruction and the remaining time we will be taking turns posing and photographing the models.  The models will be from 18-22 years old and selected by Hank for this workshop.

Only one person at a time will be using the strobe trigger, and only that person will have the model’s attention.  If others wish to photograph (out of turn) using ambient light, they may do so without being a distraction.  Unless you are using a fast lens though, you aren’t likely to get good results in the low ambient light in the studio without using a strobe.

[image2_right]The only thing you need to bring is your camera and lens.  Your camera should have a hot-shoe to attach the strobe trigger.  You should also be able to control the aperture and shutter speed (Manual Mode). You should fully understand your camera and bring your manual.

Most any general purpose lens will be suitable.  Since you’ll probably want to take both head and full body shots, a zoom with a range of around 28-70 on a digital crop camera should be just fine.  While you’re using the strobe, there’s no need to worry about camera shake since you’ll get a very fast exposure.

Those participating in this workshop will be expected to share their photos with the models by putting their images on CDs which Hank will then choose the ones to print.

The specific times of the workshops are posted on the website now.  Online signups are now closed.

No guests please.  This opportunity is only available to current LPA members.

Bonnie has been taking pictures since she was a little girl, but she didn't get into digital photography until about 2009, just before she joined the club.

Matthews-Franke finds the club to be very beneficial to her. The interaction with other members, being able to ask questions, the workshops and the knowledge that I take away from the club is phenomenal.

She believes the meetings, workshops and field trips are very beneficial, specially to the new members. Her favorites were the Fall Color Trips; Mono Lake Trips and the workshops were she had her camera and could play along.

She love landscapes. She just finished a vacation trip to Oregon where she photographed lighthouses, old barns and covered bridges. The older the structure the better Smile.
She also loves portraits, and shooting in her own studio.

Matthews-Franke has more than a few Canon's, a Canon 7D, a Canon 5D MKII and a few more with a variety of lenses and accessories. Her favorite lens is a 28-135mm ,70-200mm. & 100mm.

Matthews-Franke was our secretary of the club for a few years and helped made many changes to help us grow.
