Sign up sheet is now posted if you would like to get your name on the list. To access it on the website, for now, use the LPA calandar (Sept.) It will be on the main page as the time gets near.
Sue Craft remembered that Bodie has a photographer's day the third Saturday of each month where they let people in 1/2 hour before sunrise and stay 1/2 hour after sunset. We are going on the third Saturday! I called yesterday (7/8) and made reservations for myself and Chris. The cost is $50 per person. They take you name and give you a pass when you enter the park that permits early entry and/or a late stay. I still plan on going to Mono Lake before sunrise, but staying at Bodie until after sunset. This is all totally optional. Normal closing time is 6 pm in the summer, so this will allow us to stay about 1 1/2 hour after closing.
Reservations have to be made in advance to be able to enter early/stay late. One can come and go during the day as well. The cost is $50 per person, non-photographer or not. There don't appear to be any refunds if you can't make it. There is a limit of 50 people. As of yesterday (7/8) there were two on the list, me and Chris. The number to call is (760) 647-6564 and the ranger there is on duty from 8-4 Wednesday thru Saturday. I called in the morning and she called me back late in the afternoon.
If you are interested in either arriving early or staying late, I encourage you to call and make your reservation. I will be staying late.
